Friday, the unique format saw each USMTS competitor run three heat races, which then were all totaled together to determine Saturday starting spots for the $10,000 to win main event. Cade raced from 9th to 3rd in his opening heat; raced from 5th to 4th in his second heat and won his third heat from the pole, earning him enough total points to be locked into the main event. Philip raced from 9th to 7th in his first heat race; ran from 5th to 4th in his second heat and came home third in his third heat, which locked him into Saturday's b-main. Philip started 7th in the b on Saturday and as has been the case much of 2017, he was caught up in an incident, forcing him to retire from the event early, continuing his string of bad luck this year. Cade started the main event in 6th and quickly moved into the top 5 during the early stages of the 70-lapper. Rodney Sanders and Ryan Gustin were setting a torrid pace out front, while Cade moved into third early. Cade then tracked the leaders down and took the second spot mid race and was closing in on Gustin for the lead when the only caution of the event flew on lap 53. On the restart, Gustin drove back out to the lead, while Cade settled in to second and rode there for a great finish on the weekend. (Cody Papke photo)

Cade Dillard had a better showing, racing from 14th to 6th in the $2,000 to win main event on Thursday night, then racing from 8th to 5th in the main on Friday night, but then wrapped up the weekend with a 13th place finish in Saturday. March 4, 2017 - Cade Dillard Goes 2-for-3 in Cajun Clash; Leads USMTS Standing with Five Wins
Cade Dillard continued his white hot start to the 2017 racing season as he entered another trio of United States Modified Touring Series events this past weekend. The 6th annual Cajun Clash, at the Ark-La-Tex Speedway in Vivian, Louisiana was the host for the 3 night event.

Thursday night, Cade started last in his heat race and raced his way from 8th to 4th when the checkered flag flew, putting him one spot out of a feature starting spot, which meant he would need to run the night's b-main. Cade started on the pole and easily won the b, setting himself up for a 13th starting spot in the night's 30-lap, $2,000 to win main event. Cade then quickly got up to speed in the main event, racing his way into the top ten early and then into the top five before the quick even wrapped up, crossing the line with a solid 4th place run.

Friday night, Cade again rallied from deep in a heat race toward the front, charging from 6th to 2nd in his qualifier, then redrawing 7th for the night's 40-lap, $3,000 to win main event. Cade wasted no time dropping to the hub of the speedway and working his way forward early in the main. Cade pulled along early leader Zach VanderBeek and stole the lead with only 7 laps down and ran away from the field for the remainder of the event. Cade was forced to work his way through lapped traffic en route to the victory, but did so flawlessly and picked up the W in front of his hometown crowd.

Saturday night was much of the same as Cade raced to a convincing heat race victory from his 3rd starting spot and then redrew the pole for the 50-lap, $4,000 to win finale. Cade jumped to the lead at the drop of the green and never looked back as he raced to an uncontested victory, bringing the Louisiana crowd to it's collective feet as the local driver earned his 5th victory of the early season in the process.
