Old news worth re-visiting!!

  • Oct. 2nd, 2010

The 2010 season finished up in Valley, WA on Waitts Lake, Sept. 11th-12th with the debut of "the Project" from MDS Concepts.  Mike Stone brought out his personal creation for a shakedown cruise, after many months of development.  Though the engine was down in performance (thrown together for this race), the boat behaved as well or better than expected.  It held together and if not for a stripped drive spline just after the finish of the second to last heat, probably finishes all 6 heats for the weekend.

Russ Stone and George Doi collected some more points, though we hurt the 178R and were forced to park it short of a full weekend.  George and the 97R continued to finish out all 6 heats gathering enough points that should grab 1st place in Super-E-Hydro for SLORA in 2010.  Congratulations Mr. Dirt!!!

The equipment is parked for the season and next up are the season award ceremonies on Nov. 13th.

The 2010 season is almost finished... one more to go!!  Come see us up in Valley, WA on Waitts Lake, Sept. 11th-12th as we go down to the wire with a shot at the SE-Hydro Championship.

George (97R) and Russ (178R) running the Team SS fleet tight in Ione, WA.

Quick and Dirty Season Re-Cap:  It's been a crazy year for us.  We have only had 2 boats running this year and all three drivers have spent time in them.  Russ Stone 178R (Capt. Slow) was unable to drive until the Newport race and made his presence known with 1st place overall and for the AOF Western Divisionals!!  Class turnout has been light, but the racing has been pretty good.  Both of Team-SS-Racing's boats have been fairly consistent and reliable this season.  Hopefully another strong race weekend @ Waitts will cap off a decent year and give us some momentum and drive going into the off season.
Currently George Doi, driving Mike Stone's 97R this season, is in a tight race with Rick Keller for the SLORA SE-Hydro title.

The 2010 season is here!!

Testing starts tomorrow at Banks Lake, WA.  Come drive out to the Coulee area and enjoy the weekend of racing at Sunbanks Resort.

It was another late night trying to get things ready, but the boys are headed out in the morning.  Good luck, be safe and have fun!!

Thanks again to these fine folks for the refreshed looks:

Please be sure to let them know that you found them through us, and we are grateful for their support.

One more working weekend left before the season opener.  We're still scrambling trying to get ready.  Managed to get about half the decals on the 178R and hope to finish it up this week.

Wow... only 2 more weekends left to get ready for the season!  The guys are working hard to try and get ready for the first event at Banks Lake.  There will be a new look for Team-SS-Racing in 2010, subtle, yet fresh!!

Not much of a winter here in the Northwest this year... though I think most folks think we had more than enough last year.  Things are shaping up for the season and we'll be trying to keep up here.  The schedule has been set(we hope) posted and will be updated if/when things change.

We'd also like to welcome aboard a couple of new folks helping us out this year:

Believe it or not... work is happening over the winter!  Slowly but surely things are happening in the shop already.  We may still find ourselves scrambling but at least we are trying to work on a few things that were discovered last season.  Hopefully some lessons have been learned and will show themselves this season.  More news as we get closer to the season, but we'd like to come out this year with more consistency and to finally run together as well as George did in the 'ol 92R-Gone Bananas boat.  Great job George!!!  He's been a great addition to the team and last year things really started to click.  Here's looking forward to a New Year!!
